Daisy Trails Forest Preschool is a fully licensed Nevada program and participates in quality and professional development initiatives that support strong early learning practices. Our educators bring formal training in early childhood education and forest-based learning, with ongoing professional development in Forest School leadership.
Our days follow a consistent, nurturing rhythm and include shared meals, outdoor exploration, art, music, movement, sensory play, storytelling, and project-based learning that emerges from children’s interests and developmental needs.
At Daisy Trails, we honor childhood. We believe in slow, intentional care where curiosity is welcomed, relationships are cherished, and every child is truly seen.

Learning with the Land
Our work is grounded in the belief that meaningful learning happens through relationship—with land, with community, and with self. Based in the Tahoe Basin, we design and support forest and outdoor learning experiences that honor child development, ecological literacy, and thoughtful engagement with risk.
Daisy Trails Forest Preschool is our flagship program, offering year-round, land-based early learning. Alongside this work, we support schools, nonprofits, and land-focused organizations through program design, risk–benefit frameworks, and educator training.
At Daisy Trails Forest Preschool, we provide high-quality, intentional early learning for young children. Grounded in responsive care and a deep connection to the natural world. These early years are foundational to a child’s growth and development, and our program is designed to support lifelong learning, emotional well-being, and a joyful relationship with land and community.
Daisy Trails Forest Preschool is located at 54 Shoreline Circle in Incline Village, Nevada. Nestled near the shores of Lake Tahoe, our days are spent primarily outdoors, where infants and young children are free to explore, imagine, and build confidence through child-led, nature-based learning. Our indoor and outdoor spaces are thoughtfully prepared with open-ended materials that support creativity, independence, and joy.

“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.”
— Fred Rogers
About Dean Shreve
Dean Shreve is our chef, assistant teacher, and a calm, patient presence in the classroom. He grew up at Daisy Day Care and has become an essential part of the Daisy Trails Forest Preschool community.
With over seven years of experience in commercial kitchens—including Soule Domain, Lone Eagle Grille, and currently part-time at Gar Woods—Dean brings his love of food into the heart of our program. He prepares wholesome, gourmet meals for our students and uses mealtime as an opportunity for learning, connection, and care.
Dean holds an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Lake Tahoe Community College and is continuing his studies at the University of Nevada, Reno. He is also completing Forest School Leader training in Scotland, deepening his commitment to outdoor, child-led learning.
When he’s not in the kitchen or classroom, Dean can be found teaching Tahoe kids to ski and sharing his love of the outdoors year-round.
“The best classroom and the richest cupboard is roofed only by the sky.”
— Margaret McMillan
About Wyatt Shreve
Wyatt Shreve is our second assistant teacher, a talented baker, and a creative force behind many of the engaging play spaces at Daisy Trails Forest Preschool. Like his brother Dean, Wyatt grew up at Daisy Day Care and brings a deep understanding of our values and community into his work with children.
Wyatt has cooked at local institutions including The Chateau and Diamond Peak, and now prepares fresh, homemade bread for the preschool every day. He is currently enrolled at Lake Tahoe Community College, where he is studying Early Childhood Education and Art. He leads toddler enrichment classes and regularly prepares thoughtful, open-ended invitations to play.
Wyatt is the magic behind many of our big outdoor experiences—designing play setups for beach days, building our mud tables and garden boxes, and supporting every adventure with calm, steady care. He is lifeguard certified, CPR and First Aid trained, and Wilderness First Response ready.
We’re incredibly grateful for Wyatt’s presence, creativity, and dedication to making each day at Daisy Trails special for our children.
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
— Pablo Picasso
Discover
We recognize the benefits of play based learning where children learn to communicate their thoughts, feelings and needs to others, lengthen their attention span and develop their creativity. Children are invited to play and explore in a secure environment where they can confidently tackle new situations and discover their surroundings
Learn
All our staff not only provide children with a solid foundation in literacy, scientific-mathematical thinking, and soci-emotional development, but seek to promote a life-long appreciation of learning through emphasis on the joys of discovery and the empowerment of choice. Our core curriculum is enhanced by activities that allow for children to creatively express themselves, such as dramatic play, music, movement, art and dance.
Grow
With the first years of a child’s life being critical to shaping a child’s future, health and development, we acknowledge that the changes we make to improve our children’s environment can have a profound impact on their small bodies. Therefore we are committed to reducing environmental hazards in our centers and providing children with an eco-healthy environment so they can grow into healthy adults
Enrichment Activities
Enrichment classes are part of our daily routine! We are excited to welcome several enrichment teachers from our community to help us learn and grow! Classes do vary by season. Currently, we offer ski and snowboarding, Tai Chi, Yoga, Music, Dance, soccer, and paint and sippy cup classes. breath and balance.
